Suggestions about Copyright material.
Please note: this information is provided in good faith
but is not intended - and should not be treated - as an authoritative guide to the legal position.

The material you record must be clear of copyright restrictions,
so that Spotlight don't run any risk of being sued by an outraged rights-holder.
In practice, you can accomplish this in a number of ways:
Choose material by an author whose work is out of copyright, Dickens and Shakespeare
being two obvious examples. Published works normally go out of copyright at the end of the 70th year
after the death of the last surviving author.
Consider writing material yourself.
Use published material having obtained clearance from the rights-holder to use it on the Spotlight website.
In our experience, most rights-holders will say yes to this if you ask.
